Well, the other day I noticed my coolant was black-ish. Got it into the shop yesterday and turns out it's got a blown head gasket. We were planning on doing a overhaul this summer but looks like it's been moved up now.

The mechanic shop said it will take a week or so and will "be like new" when I get the truck back. I'm just wondering if there will be certain things I will need to do. Certain speeds, rpms etc... until the engine is "broke in"?

Would be great if we knew what kinda truck and engine you had...You should look at Pittsburgh Power's website, just google it.

    Its a 2000 T2000 with an Cumming N14 Plus.

Guess I didn't know that it mattered how you treat a newly rebuilt engine depending on the make. I figured it was the same across the board.

I looked at that Pittsburgh Power website but didn't see anything about how to treat an engine after a rebuild. Did a search there but came up empty handed.

I didn't have any advice for you. I just wanted to know what you drove and what engine you had. Driving a rebuilt engine is no different than driving a new car or truck with a new engine. You should ask the shop rebuilding it for advice.Pittsburgh Power if you called them they can give tons of advice, they have tons of products to enhance performance and fuel economy since your engine is being over hauled it would be a perfect time to take care of many things.

I just now when I rebuilt my 360 in my jeep and the LT 1 in the Camaro I had we did certain things when it was 'fresh'. Didn't know if a diesel was the same or not.

I figure to talk to the shop guys when I go pick it up but in the mean time I was just curious.
