it is a major headache if you have people adjusting linkage as a quick fix-once a new clutch is in--and all your internal measurments are set--i almost think the linkage should be tack welded to keep prying fingers away
that way all your wear adjusments are done by the ring adjuster--and that is really all you should need
clutch brake adjustment?

Next time you get a truck in with 3 inches of brake to the floor you adjust the ring to change that.

Mr. Haney is right on. I've gone thru clutches also. New T800 had a 1600 Series clutch but I bumped the torque on an N14 from 1650 to 1850 and 460 HP to 525 HP.
I pulled lowbeds up to 200,000 lbs. and the clutch springs would fly out of the pressure plate, with those weights, you reach your high torque point from 1200 to 1400 RPM's. . Spicer had agreed to honor the warranty based on a 1600 series and I paid the slight difference for an 1800 series. -
so how miles should you get on a clutch, Say abnormal driving habits . I bought a truck pulled a heavy paper load. Truck has a grass burner for exhaust . When i pull running thru gears i get alot of white smoke occasionally , I think its the clutch. My truck has 256,000 . Any help appreciate it.

It could be exhaust, too. Do you smell anything burning?

mr H. is dead on! as far as earlly wear eaton puts a little cardboard disc in the box that they say is used if flywheel is thin (never had to use it). and my 2 cents on linkage almost every clutch i put in never had to touch the linkage or the clutch it tells u on the sheet of paper that comes with the clutch little to no adjustment is needed. but if some1 did mess wit the linkage than yea u gotta mess with it. im a mack/ volvo tech and the mack is the only trucks i have to adjust the linkage on every time. shavings in the trans could happen if the input shaft and seal is missing IE. truck wouldnt move period lmfao. they may be rite shavings in trans maybe gear maybe bearing main box...air tank is an extra charge for bigger guys and dump trucks, but if im not doin work to the trans i dont take it from under the truck! almost every road tractor u can slide the trans on the jack to the first axle and have plenty of room...... and thats a fair price 2600 man were charging 3000+. wish i could get some of that gravy 5 hours tops in and out but id charge 400 u buy the parts!!!!!!!!!!!!! if i could sit at home and do clutches all day everday id quit and live tax free! im sure i can knock 3 out a day

It depends on the truck. On my KW T600 you have to drop the tranny, but on my Pete and Freightliner you don't. -
Could anyone please share how to change cluster brake myself?
