My kw is double framed and i noticed water/mud getting inbetween the frame rails and rusting pretty good causing the frame rails to seperate.. It would make sense if they put grease fittings down the frame hmmmm solution but i dunno if thats a possible modification.. Any ideas!?!?

I know a guy that sprays white grease out of a can down the frame rails. He said he does it twice a year. Dont know if it helps the frame rails. I use it on my ratchet binders I like it for that. I get it Home Depot PB blaster makes it.
rookietrucker Thanks this. -
you can also try a mix of 1 part desiel and 3 parts engine oil (old sump oil) this will help flush out all the rubbish and protect also.
RAG Thanks this. -
Krown rust control or Rust Check. You should be able to get it in PA. They both make coating products. I spray my frame ( anything steel ) down in the winter.

Also works good on my binders -

Jake i also have the same problem on my o2 pete, and it sickens me .i bought new, and it's been an awsome truck! I clled peterbilt of nh. And got aprice on 2 new factory fram rails. They said, it would cost 12 to 13,000 dollars and that's all new huck bolts and cross members. I figure if i take a loan out for around 35,000 it's a tax writeoff and with the balance left i will have them do the motor and clutch as well i have 855,000 miles on the old girl with the original clutch ! The way i figure it's still a lot cheaper than a new one. Oh and by the way if your useing oil use bar and chain oil mix with diesel cause old engine oil is contaminated with oils from engine parts. Hope this helps /joe jr.

i tried many things to stop corrosion. for single rail I used hammerrite paint, and I sugest it hepls with double frame, but frame rails twist on road and may damage pain, so I'm confused too
may be protective fluids for cars (like rust bullet, canadian rust stop and other) may help..... they designed them for car bodies, especially for bottom and fenders and they help! but as I remember it is for three years, after that renew it -
If it is a nice truck replace rails or seperate them blast and paint. If just an old work truck and trying to get life out if it strip all acessories you can off rails, beat the rails with sledge hamer and blow compressed air between rails to blow rust out.. Do this until they are flat again (flat as they can be). Brush on or spray paint outside rails with paint After couple of days when paint has cured enough, spray transmission fluid between rails. Keep using transmission the fluid to keep rust down. We use to do this whith old dump trucks we brought back from the dead. Hope this helps.
