    egr calibration,computer reset?freightliner

hey guys maybe someone can help me figure this problem out.i have an 04 century freightliner with the detroit 60 egr 12.7 motor.i had compression from the engine going into the radiator and i got the engine rebuilt(inframe)got it fixed...but when i was trouble shooting the engine before i got the engine rebuilt i dissconected the exauhst s-pipe from the egr cooler and the egr gas delivery pipe that goes to the manifold intake so i can do my compression test,i ran the engine like that with that stuff disconnected for about 10 to 15 minutes...after i finished the compression test and determined that the compression was coming from the engine and not the egr cooler,i put the egr s-pipe and the egr gas delivery pipe back on...then started the engine and noticed that the cruise control wouldnt bump up to 10rpm like always,it only bumped up to 7rpm.then i drove the truck bobtail and noticted i lost horse power...you know when your driving bobtail at 55mph and you mash the gas the exceleration pushes back into the seat.well it didnt do that no more.then i took the truck to the shop they rebuilt the engine the compression problem was resolved.then i told the mechanic to reset the cruise control idle at 10rpm and check the horse power setting.he said it was set at 370 horse power and previosly when i bought the truck i had the dealer set the horse power to 470 and i was standing right there with him.i told the mechanic to set the horse power back to 470 and he said he couldnt because my computer only allows to be set at 430horse power...whats going on here???did my computer lose the specs and go to a default setting when i dissconected the egr pipes, does my egr setting on the computer side needs to be reprogramed/calibrated???why did i lose those computer settings for the horse power and rpm range when idling???

DD EGR is not like on Volvo D12 ore on ISX, it is oil pressure driven and usually requires no calibration becouse there is DPFE(Delta) sensor and ECM controll not EGR position but delpa pressure, by delta pressure EGR flow is calculated.

this system was used on Volvo D13A Euro-IV and this system is more reliable.

Problem you describe may be related with carbon deposits iside valve, so there is some exaust leak when ECM tries to close it.

what about the computer???i had my rpm on the cruise control set at 10 rpm for idle and the horse power set at 430 which was comfirmed by the dealer i bought the truck from.and the mechanic that worked on the truck said the horse power was set at 370 and also the rpm cruise control idle was at 7&1/2 rpm...i sat there with the mechaic while he bumped up the horse power&idle rpm...if the batterys died on the truck would the computer go to a default original setting mode???

DDDL - Detroit diesel diagnostic link
DDRS - Detroit diesel reprogramming system
DDCT - detroit diesel calibration tool

Look for DD dealer.. they have it!
