I'd love to order a glider kit from Peterbilt or KW (I think KW quit making them though) but there is absolutley no way that it would financially work without pulling some serious strings, well more like pulling chains ha ha. I was just wondering if anybody with some 'ins' knew if they are still in the long term plans. It seems like they've been getting phased out here lately.

Well, the last time i was in cleveland they still had a few in the lot. When does a glider make sense?

A glider always makes sense. Kevin Rutherford, Trucking Business and Beyond.

So the truck can be titled as earlier?

2 guys locally have both had 2 built. They ordered the gliders from the local Pete dealer and had them taken to Hoover's in Dover Ohio to have the engine/trans installed and the wiring, exhaust finished. One has a 70pin E model cat, had Ohio cat do a complete rebuild with a 4 year warranty, the other is a 6NZ with a lot of aftermarket goodies (cam, injectors ect).
They didn't do it because it was cheaper, in fact the one with the E model was $137k for a Pete 388 W/42" sleeper. But you have a new truck without the junk motor.
I would buy one in a heartbeat but I don't want a Peterbilt. Give me a 2012 W900L with either a 6NZ or MXS Acert both with PDI ecm's and I'll sign on the dotted line. -

Until they become totally outlawed, it seems like the only smart move to go with a glider or to restore a pre-EPA truck. Less weight with no SCR and DPF, less cost to operate, fewer sudden breakdowns due to some goofy sensor having a fit... when would'nt a glider be a good choice? Unless you have a pressing desire to do CA. -
does anybody know why dont any other manufacturers offer glider kit but peterbilt and freightliner
