I have recently lease our 98 pete 379 to a company hauling frac sand. They require a PTO and blower to load and unload the sand on well site location. They are going to charge us $9000 for the parts and installation. Just wondering if there is a less expensive way to do this this and what type PTO and Blower would be required. Any direction you guys can give will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

the less expencive way is to purchase pump, fluid tank and other stuff used ore on wreked yard and do all installationg yourself.

can you please explain what kind of trailer you will use

if i understand you good you need air compressor for unloading? like for transport of cement or anything similar?

    why?

i have never heard for that

We will be pulling pneumatic trailers which require air pressure to push the sand out of the trailer in order to unload.

I run a fleet of 35 trucks with positive displacement blowers to run pneumatic tanks, I run either a drum d807 or a tuthill t850 powered by a Chelsea PTO. You will want to get as close to a 200% ratio as u can to keep to engine Rpms close to 1000 while unloading. For a new install with a steel muffler and air cleaner you will have between 6 to 7 grand in parts. I have quite a few trucks hauling sand and it takes more air to unload than cement so don't try and cheap out and go with a smaller blower than what I stated or unload times will increase.

We were told it would cost 7000 bucks to move our PTO and blower etc from one truck to another. Personally, I found that to be outrageous but maybe there's alot more to it than I realize?

7000 that is outrageous we install a complete system in our shop in about 16 to 20 hr's depending on the chassis. So even at 100 dollars a hour and 5 hr's to remove the old system labor should not be over 2500 dollars. Even if they rebuilt the blower and the pto 7000 still seems steep

I don't currently have a PTO or blower on my tractor. So, it's $9000 for the equipment and the installation. That sound fair to you guys?

Thanks for all your help guys.

This is sand for oilfield use and it doesn't get dumped, it gets blown off like flour. Maybe someone who actually has done this will give better details.
