That might be the most expensive part but do you know the most valuable?
The loose nut behind the steering wheel!!!

Price sounds about right. Retail.

Yhe part that did not get changed that was clearly wornout at last service, that ends up leaving you and your load sitting in the desert roasting. The company may have saved 5 bucks and spent several thousand to save it.

I've seen some Cat ones go for $8000 or better. Just wait till the decomposition chambers in the SCR systems need replacing!

Platinum's currently selling for just over $1,800.00 an ounce.

Sounds like one of those exhaust items that best to just do without. I can understand about a DPF or SCR, but a CC, I would just remove. Kinda like the EGR on my ISX, it hasn't sent one ounce of soot to my intake in over 400,000 miles. It finally threw a code that it was faulty. It won't get replaced since I don't use it anyway.

I removed the convertor from my 2004 Western Star. The scrap yard gave me $500 for it an I also gained .3mpg. Win win for me!
