M11 exhaust manifold bolts

    Warm would be the best, I like to use a good 3/8" impact, the smaller one it less likely to break bolts.

    The joints do allow for the expansion, but it one of the sections is positioned so that it is moved out towards the bolts cold, then when it expands it puts pressure on the bolts, like say on the back section I would want the holes positioned so that when you put the bolt in it almost touches the back side of the hole, on the front section you would want it towards the front part of the bolt he in the manifold. The center you can't do much about.

    This maybe a dumb question but, are the spacers under the bolts? The spacers allow for longer bolts that will stretch further than shorter bolts without breaking.

    The spacers apply clamping force to the manifold fllange yet allow the manifold to move on the mounting when heated or cooled.

    there are spacers between the bolts and manifold where required; the #6 lower that keeps breaking has a long spacer (had, actually; need to find another one).

    no room for an impact on the last two cyl's. might take a chance anyway

    Make sure u use good anti sieze on bolts or u will not get accurate torque when u torque up the bolts.
