Are all compressors for series 60 interchangable on 11l, 12.7l and 14L engines?

Early Tu flo 750 had two mounting flanges - one used with adaptor housing and the other direct coupling to the gear case , all 750 comp mounted direct to gearcase are interchangable . Ba 921 and Ba 922 compressors came out with two flanges -one six bolt and one five bolt flange- six bolt flange can be fitted but five bolt flange only fits later gearcase

seems to me 921 is the best choise for semi. But in Europe two cyl compressors are generally used. and when one cyl fails truck may run with half cpmpressor perfomance.

Holset are rare here, generally Wabco and Knorr (hah, they call the same compressor Bendix in the USA)!

But air processing in Europe differs. There are air processing units popular here, they include air driyer, governor, and four way valve, all in one. I used to fit them on US trucks.

Now more and more new vehicles get electronic air processors. Smart thing, when you drive down a hill ore deccelerare it actuates compressor to fill tanks fully. It savese fuel! But if unit fails it is no so cheap!

Your right - nothings cheap these days and I,d prefer twin cylinders for as you stated one cylinder can go out and you still have brakes
