From bottom to top of the line

Cascadia - Top of their class of trucks, will have the most insulation, supposedly quieter ride ( I cant confirm ), seems to have a fair amount of probs tho (reading the garage area and RedHot Mess threads). Supposedly the best of all that freightliner offers.
Coronado - Streamlined Classic series with features from the century
Classic XL - if you like the looks of long nose and all the toys of the 1970's
Century - tends to have more creature comforts better insulation
Columbia - most basic of all the freightliners

There are more Century's out there for now as it used to be industry standard. In the last few years companies have been leaning more toward the cascadias. Frankly I would stick with a Century, just a prefference. Detroit engine, but that is up to you, its only a flavor.

Talked to a dealer and he said the ten speeds have a more reliable transmission and that Freightliner has a better warranty on the 10's.

My company just bought 2 brand new 2012 Coronado daycabs with 10 speeds. They bought them because of the new technology on the trucks now is supposed to provide better fuel mileage. I havent read much about them but apperently they require liquid uria added in a seperate tank that is mixed and burned with the deisel fuel and i heard something about deisel exhaust fluid the other day too but i dont know what thats about.

Read this thread to see what you might look forward to . http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/a-discussion-about-everything/168258-cassie-is-sick.html
A used American Peterbilt is a much better deal than a new Freightliner built in Mexico by a German corporation . Daimler put thousands of Americans out of work .

Check this out. Bringing jobs back to North Carolina. We bought (6) 2012 Cascadias w/ DD13s and are happy with them. Upgrading from Columbias. The cab quality is greatly improved from prior models. Quiet, no rattles, sounds like a car door when you close the door, not a hunk of plastic.

    RickG Thanks this.

How do you figure that? Freightliners are built in North Carolina, i know that for a fact because ive delivered frame rails for freightliner trucks to their plant. Yes daimler was a german company, they made the german tanks in ww2, they also make dodge, jeep, chrysler and they also build sterling trucks and custom chassis for cilivian rvs in gaffney sc, which ive also hauled to and from.

The Freightliner chassis in Gaffney are used for buses and RV's. They got 3 or 4 plants in NC, Western Star in OR. The big truck one is in Cleveland, NC and one in Mexico. They stopped making Sterlings about 3 years ago.
