really simple idea. I sugest bus auxially heater would be good too, becouse no ac requires, 12V DC only.

I have seen it done with charcoal. Another trick is to drain the coolant and keep it in the hotel overnight.

There are many distant truck stops w/o ac sockets. it i not all, this thing warms up deep frozen engine in less a hour, block heater doe it for longer time.

Anyway, IMO, if you run your truck in Syberia - install auxially water heater (like thermo 90, hydronic...) and install APU. Add fuel tank heaters, thermoline and heated fuel filters.

    heyns57 Thanks this.

I'd rather just run an APU to keep it warm. Is it really that hard to get these trucks started? I'v started a diesel bus in -10F and just used glow plugs then turned the key. A little extra cranking but she started right up. I would think as long as your diesel isn't frozen it should start.

no truck stops no apu keep truck running.

how about just not shutting apu off. it would run 4 mobths straight and avoid metal fatigue from extreme temperature differences. lets see truck runs at 180ish degrees but it needs to get started from -20ish.'

i wonder what kind of engine problems appear after a few years of extreme cycling.

Thank God I won't be working in Siberia! Although Canada is not out of the question.

    That's his sleeper curtain?!!

If he had a bigger gen he could just plug in the block and pan heaters.
