Fellass help me out.... i have a freightlner 2000 fld.... my fan stays on all of a sudden. I did a few things to the cooling system that i should point out. I replaced Thermostats 190 and replaced the electrical gauge with a mechanical gauge because the original read 12deg hottter. Now the electrical prong is just hanging there. No air leaks at solenoid. Although problem didnt start til 800 miles later .. i operated fan manually plenty of times .. can my A/C be messing with the fan? Any quick disconnects i can go thru to find my problem? I can deal with it il i get home but id really hate to burn an extra 100 gallons til oi get back. Thnx fellas.

Could be a bad jumper harness that hooks into the high pressure switch. If the contacts in there are bad or a little loose the fan will run constantly. New harness about $50 give or take, that would be the easiest thing to check. Put a zip tie around the harness where it plugs into the high pressure switch and tighten it up really tight to see if the fan turns off since that'll make it have a good connection.. If it's not that it could be a myriad of other things of which all I can say is good luck..

Try this; Turn the key to the run position. Does the fan hub release with no air leaks?

Ok... i did narrow it down to the A/C being the problem. When i turn ac off, fan works as normal about a minute after. I moved around some wires to sensors anything leading to the a/c and the accumulator . Now my fan works fine half of the time while running a/c... if i know wich one is the high pressure switch i can zip tie it like u said..

I did turn the key and operate the fan yesterday before gettin ur reply ... the fan did not enage/disengage at that time, but cant remember if the a/c was in the run position at that time. Right now it seems to be working ok, but i know the problem isnt fixed just yet

I’ve had a problem with my c12 in a 97 Volvo dump truck,, I’ve sunk thousands of dollars on this annoying problem and for a short while it worked fine now it’s back!!! Fan stays on all the time , took fan off hooked air to it and released it and it did as it should it locked in and freed itself with no air,, put it back on and it is engaged constantly! Plus when I turn key to on position it leaked air out the back of the hub! Doesn’t leak when fan was off and we had air goin to it ,,, replaced selenoid and still same thing,, I noticed also that my a/c blink red 4 times which means open connection any ideas mind you everything is new! And has made no change
