Don't buy the HP2000 APU for your truck!
After going on the internet and comparing diffferent APU'S for the truck I swayed my husband into purchasing the HP2000 APU. Big mistake. Website advertises 15000 BTU's. No way. Best we could do was get the truck down to 74 degrees before it would shut down.
We were required to pay for the unit by certified check, unlike Thermo King where you can put the purchase on your Credit Card. (Could have used a credit card to purchase the HPU 2000 for an ADDITIONAL FEE). After getting the unit installed, two months and 5 diffferent repair facilities and the unit still not working properly, my husband finally had enough and told them to just take the unit off and give him his money back so that he could purchase a Thermo King. They took the unit off, and the owner of the company that sold it to us (in Illinois) was very rude about it. He said, "Sure, we'' take the --- -- - ----- off!" Certainly not a good way to end things for him when we have access to the "Trucker's Forum" to let others know about our experience... The mechanics who had worked on the unit twice by this time with no succcess, were nice about the whole thing but they just didn't know what they were doing. The sad thing is, this was where the unit is manufactured. You would think if anyone could get it working - they would. This is where we had taken it the SECOND time to get it repaired and they sent my husband away with the impression that it was working properly. An hour down the road to pick up his load and the unit shut down again.
The only good thing about the whole thing is that we DID get most of our money back.
Do yourself a favor. Don't waste your time! Whether it be Thermo King or another manufacturer, just don't make the mistake we did!
The trucker's wife.
HP2000 APU not the one! Going with THERMO KING.

get a dynasys, 6000 watt generator, independent hvac, shore power, charges batteries, 110 outlet in bunk, and hooked to block heater.
not tied into trucks cooling system -
Why don't ye try something like a waeco (domestic in the US) cab cooler, I have one and I coulnt live without it, 1/5th the price of an APU , simple, trouble free, silent , runs off the trucks batteries for about 30 hours, costs nothing to run, no servicing only a gas top up every few years. They'll freeze your ##### off ( never turned mine up past 4 in the height of Italian and Spanish summers)

That manufacturer are called domestic in the US if you don't have any luck pm me and I'll check it out with my local dealer.
Viesa sell water evaporator models over there but they aren't great in extreme heat cos the cooling water gets hot in it's tank but would be ok if you could shield the tank from the sun! Those are only about $1300 us !
There are more manufacturers I'll check them out for prices , availability etc but waeco is the one I have and no problems at all.3rd Gen Driver and larry2903 Thank this.
