I can tell you how the new ride is.....still sitting at the dealership waiting to be finished. The man talks about it everyday on this forum for 6 months and then talks about how fast Freightliner is putting it all together in less than 36 hours or something, but yet it is 1 month after it was supposed to be here and still no pictures of it hooked up working. He fell for the oldest salesman trick in the book for 3 weeks by saying it is running behind on delivery, waiting on paint, union strike, weather, etc. etc... The dealer got the truck on July 23rd, so it has taken 18 days to paint and put together. Not so impressive.....I bet you've already cut all the hay on your 40 acre piece of Iowa heaven in that assembly time

Ah, but Sako3006, you speak in untruths. I have posted pics of the glider, and have had it on the road this last week. It is a real nice ride. First fueling was right at 8.9 mpg pump to pump. I ran it like a scalded ape for a couple of days after that with 43.000 in the box in hill country, to give it a good break in, and that fueling was a hair under 7 mpg pump to pump. Many told me that 18 speed tied to 2.64 rears wouldn't work.... it works great! Running in direct 16th, this ride will pull a hill very well, on the hardest hills I have hit so far, I lost only a half a gear down to 15th. Startability is a non issue. Since we put on a Bully Dog ported/coated manifold, a larger Borg Warner turbo, and Walker Megaflows on the stacks, the EGTs never got over 900F in 98F weather pulling heavy on a hill. Engine temp never got above 200F on a hill pull. And never lost more than half a gear with only using 30 lb of turbo boost. It may not be a good comparison, but this truck with a Detroit DDEC IV 60 500 hp, when pulling that 43,000 in the box, felt like I was pulling only 20,000 in the box with my last truck with an ISX in it. I have lugged it down to 1200 a couple of times to see how it performs, and temps on EGT went just a hair over 900F and it didn't miss a beat. Most times I kept it in the 1400 - 1600 rpm range with occasional bumps to 1700 those two days of making this bird work. Out of the hills, with that same 43,000 in the box, the boost never needed to go over 8 or 9 lb to maintain road speed of 65 - 70 mph and held at or below 700F on the EGT's.

The premium noise abatement and arctic insulation package on this ride makes it real quiet inside. And the ride is really great. It takes the rough on the roads in stride.

While we did run into a few hiccups in getting the truck done, it was all on Freightliner's end. The dealer was great. Just because Freightliner and the UAW couldn't get their act together, doesn't mean the dealer was scamming me. Phil and the guys at Harrison Truck were great!! And now we all know how the spec's are playing out and how good the truck actually is. And, Sako3006, I never stated Freightliner would do the build in 36 hrs, I stated the dealer would. And they did when they got the truck. The only delays were the factory part of the build, but we knew going in that it would be 5-6 months for delivery. And the Freightliner delayed on delivery of the air dam and some of the brackets for it, so that caused the delay I mentioned.

I have no regrets whatsoever. And any delays were worth it. Good things come to those who wait.

Congratulation Cowpie! This is very exciting. Seems weird to see a blue truck in your Avatar, though. I'm going to have to get used to that. LOL

    Is it really that important?

Yes, just for those that are anal about whether the truck is actually working and to erase all doubts, since my word is insufficient. Here is a pick hooked up to a trailer. Do you also need to know what I was hauling and who it was going to? Maybe I should post a pic of the bill of lading to further erase any doubts. Oh, and last fueling was 7.74 mpg and based on what the fuel gauge is saying, when I fuel tomorrow, the truck should exceed 8 mpg on that fill. Anyone interested in tracking all the fuelings, it can be found on the Truck Guages website of letstruck dot com under truck 999. I am putting all fuelings on that site. So much for the naysayers that said an 18 spd tied to 2.64 rears and running in direct 16th, driven by a 500 hp Detroit 60 12.7 with a few mods wouldn't work. And the truck isn't even broke in yet. I apologize for ranting about that, but there were a lot of folks that gave me a ton of grief over how I was spec'ing the truck. It feels good to know that they were all full of it.
