I was ask around. PDI does programming on both motors. I have heard the Detroit is cheaper to upgrade but I really dont know. More of a Cat guy... I do have a 2000 tri-axle with a Cummis N14 550HP and that motor has been GREAT! Not one problem with. Really has been great.
Where to buy glider kits, engine, etc.

Does anyone know if you can buy a new Freightliner glider and put a pre egr Cat motor into it?
-
Almost positive . Let them know what era motor and the wiring harness will be basically plug and play . People I talked to wanted to know what alt you planed on using so the correct plag would be in place .
fireba11 Thanks this. -
I am pretty sure you can got clear back to Cat 3406E in a FL glider. At least the Columbia and Coronado. If the latest I heard that FL is now offering the Cascadia as a glider, not too sure about that. Just have to ask whomever you talk to about the glider.

yup found this ..Only for Westernstar trucks, Freightliners do not have a Cat option....
.POWERED GLIDER OPTIONSDaimler Trucks North America is the only OEM that offers a Glider kit with factory-installed remanufactured
engines. When you choose the powered Glider option, you can spec a POWERChoice Detroit Series 60®
or
MBE 4000 remanufactured engine for like-new performance, efficiency and reliability.
You can also spec a remanufactured engine from the CAT or Cummins ReCon®
product lines. -

Thanks. Best truck I have ever owned or driven. No regrets at all. 247,000 on it now and it is a champ.
