older engines get tired and use oil is the sinple answer
if it isn't on the ground underneath you it isn't a leak
and you would have to tear down the engine and rebuild it most likely
to avoid using oil at that mileage

    gerardo1961 Thanks this.

worn piston rings, bad seal in turbo, air compressor could be pumping oil(you would see oil in air tanks) valve stem seals or oil cooler leaking into radiator, but that much oil usage it would be overflowing rad cap.

As I've been told, the smaller displacement engines typically will not see the same service life as their larger counterparts.

I have a Prostar with a Cummins in it and was concerned about oil useage and sometimes low pressure (200,000 mi) I had the oil filter changed (wasn't due for oil change) and believe it or not that took care of the low oil pressure. As it starts getting close to oil change time it will go thru about 1gal @3000mi. Dealer said no problem? They don't consider it excessive til it's useing 1gal EVERY 1,000!!!
    Hows that dealer support?
