Valve settings on 3406E and C-15 overhead cam engines.

    Best way to save your fuel is to cut your idle time to as little as possible, when pulling try to run it between 1400-1700 rpm that's where any c15/3406 makes the best power - do not downshift, just lug it down as much as you can- it's also where it makes it's best power

    I totally agree with you, but I have to look at those abortions of an engine everyday+fix them to boot! Wait till you see the new c15 in the ct660 (new cat truck- bumper to bumper) its a common rail fuel system not a mui, and the regen system is egr now and not cgi, but its the same block and head (just common rail)

    is that the same as they are putting in the new cat trucks. seen one of those a while back. just closed the hood and stepped away slowly, backwards!

    Loose valve setting can also cause valve float.wouldnt advise to do this.broken rocker arms,premature lobe wear.even at the stock setting there is still side to side movement on rocker arm,couldnt imagine setting it more loose.to tight causes thumping through the breather usually because valves dont fully close properly.
