If we had 3000*F DPF temps, there would be alot of metal slag on the road...

EGR/DPF delete in a pickup costs around$3k =/- a couple hundred. deleted trucks go from 15-16 mpg to 22-24mpg not a 1mpg increase, just adding info.

There are ways to keep the heat from the exhaust on the floor of the cab and sleeper. There are exhaust insulation wraps that will endure 1800F continuously and 2200F intermittently.

    https://www.heatshieldproducts.com/automotive/exhaust-heat-shield-insulation

There is also heat reflective materials that can be put on underside of cab sleeper that insulate and reflect heat away from floor area on the underside.

Now we need to see how cummins single module play out with dpf/scr combined into one. For x15?

Hopefully they're better , allot better for the Cummins. Volvo also went to single unit emissions.
Seems to be the next big evolution along with the PC11 oils that will further increase life of the engine and emissions components.

it's ok to have single module dpf/scr. The DOC must be accessible because when malfunction happens DOC gets clogged first. Operator must be able to remove and clean it. Freightliners 1-box configuration sucks because its single unit with SCR and no way to separate the DOC.

Mfgs need to put a better idle control strategy to keep the DOC from getting plugged up.. new trucks do but not sure if older emissions trucks can be updated to the newer strategies?
