Engine goes from full power to idle with Red flashing shut down light on. As soon as the engine gets slowed to idle red light goes out and idles normal. Start adding fuel sometimes will go sometimes goes to idle again. Took to dealer about a month ago they replaced throttle position sensor (TPS). When got the truck back the information window on the dash showed a fault, Odometer offset recallibrated. Dealer had no clue. Today did the shut down thing again. Took to dealer computer says TPS, but they have no clue. They are now talking new ECM. have no idea of the cost, it is not my truck, but I really don't like anyone getting hosed. Has any body had this problem?

get the dealer to see if it has had the recall done where you have to re-wire the plug for the tps on isx's. i worked at a pb dealer during that time and seems like 07-08, particularly 387's, we had to rewire the tps harness, they had the wrong schmatic when they wired them and it took awhile for it to show up on the truck. it would work fine for a while then i would code for tps, put new tps in until it fried if it was not rewired. maybe not be the case, but something to check.

Just got it back from the dealer today. I was off on another job and did not get to talk to the dealer and they didn't have the bill ready. I did make a mistake in the post it is a ISM engine not the ISX. They said something about the ECM not communicating properly so maybe they found the plug. Time will tell we'll put it back to work tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the reply

If its not the ECM, Check the fuel filter/pump and possible junkin the tank. Years ago I took over a truck from a disgruntled driver, and had a simlar problem. It turned out after a lot of expense he had put pieces of cardboard in the tank. Hence as fuel was sucked through the system the cardboard was suck to the bottom of the tank sealing the flow. When the fuel demand was re;leased the cardboard floated a way and the engine ran fine until the next time the flow was sealed. Which could be within ten minutes or a couple of days depending on fuel level in the tank...

Check your main engine to cab harness that runs from the right side of the firewall, over the engine, to the left side. The harness likes to rub through on the valve cover, firewall and p-clamp stand-offs. Your TPS wiring runs through this harness.
