As far as maintenance goes the VED-13 IMO is near the bottom. Right above the Mercedes engine. Volvo needs to stick to frame and cabs.

I don't think I ever seen a high mileage Volvo engine? Companies that experimented with them have always changed to another engine the next go around. That's why a fleet of 2010's are prematurely up for sale.

If I invested my own money it would have to have one of the top 3 in it. Preferably an ISX.

I would like to read a review from a mechanics perspective.

Volvo engines have their own engine brake not a jake by the way it's useless. I agree volvo engine same level as 12.8 mercedes. Volvo 670 with cummins isx way better. 3.42 gears to high for that engine great on flat ground for fuel mileage useless in hills 3.55 or 3.58 way better.

I'm the owner of one of the highest mileage Volvo 780 with same VolvoD13 engine. I passed 1 million: miles 3 weeks ago ,team truck. I got it new in Aug 2007,but is model 08,with dpf regen crap.I'm on original engine, turbo, air compressor, AC ; but i wasted aprox 30,000$ on emissions control rpairs since 2007; 4th manifold, 3rd DPF filter,3 EGRs, a dozen of flexible pipes, 4-5 towings,Dpf cleaning and a basket full of sensors. The fuel economy is great average around 8mpg , much better than my last truck Volvo 770 2001/D60 Detroit and this D13 is pulling better.I like it,huge inside good team truck lots of storage place, but Volvo services sux bad, i would get Volvo 78o again but with Cummins, if
you got an engine problem can take to Freightlinear,International, Pete,KW
