Forget mace or pepper spray...never seen anyone even slightly functional after getting sprayed by a dry-chemical extinguisher.

Bonus: the cylinder makes a pretty good head-knocker.

Tire thumpers would not be considered a weapon in my eyes. However things like a fish bat taped up next to your seat, or a metal pipe with tape on the handle etc etc may be construed as a weapon. Can't "beat" a 4-6 D cell Mag lite though!

    Tire Thumper as Weapon?

A Fire Extinguisher should always be available and close at hand to meet any
emergency. They will certainly disable a person or persons without causing serious or permanent damage. Two or three might be better than one to have
available wherever you might be in the truck.

Usually a small wooden bat used to stun a live fish unconsious or dead.
Normally about 12-18" long shaped like a bat. It's a bigger version of the mini-bats given away at baseball games!

I keep mine under the seat and have never been questioned about it.

Since we frequently have to whack the sides of our trailers to help encourage the loads to slide out of the trailer, I always carry a 2 pound extremely hard rubber hammer in the truck with me. I usually keep it in the side box on the drivers side, and it makes a dandy tire/bad guy thumper. Should they prove slightly more resistant, I also carry a 4 pound shot filled dead blow hammer in the truck that will do even more damage if needed. Inside the truck cab, always within reach is a 4" knife, often left open if I feel any anxiety about where I happen to be.

Dang, watch out for the "super-truckers" He's right and wrong. Sure a tire thumper can be used as a weapon. But no, they're not verboten in the cab! I could smash someone's head with a T.V., but you'll not find anyone calling it a weapon.
