I've seen guys leave it on all the time. don't know why, never had one. they pull in and its running when they back into dock.
-
Yes you can. I have run the APU when I lost my fan belt. I was told it could be hard on the water pump on the APU unit as it is not designed for the amount of pressure the truck motor puts out, but I did not have any problems.

only some models can do this, or can be modified in their programming to do so. Stand alone units that are not connected to the trucks coolant system will not have the water pump issue.

on ours you can

Thanks everyone. my APU is tied into the truck cooling system. and I did't no if it would case the APU to over heat.

If they are tied together, they can run at the same time. But the APU alternator will not put out the capacity you could need with lights and blowers on a steady basis. But it should get you by for a while.

I thank you for the info
