    The first problem I would like to deal mwith is a truck I have just purchased. A 2007 western Star with a
    2006 cat NXS11226 engine. I took it out for a first trip pulling hay rack log trailer hauling up to 140000 lbs. loads.

    The service engine light went on even pulling empty. I stopped the truck to read the engine code and got a 55

    code which tell me no faults. I tried again and same thing so I tried reading the code with truck driving and was able to retrieve a code 95 which is intake valve actuation oil pressure voltage fault.
    I went to Cat repair shop and picked up a new oil pressure sending unit. Replaced the sending unit on top of head on right hand side of engine and problem not solved. Help would be apreaciated.

    I would like to add to my thread that the engine went into derate with only 30 lbs. of boost.
    Once when I shut the engine off and restarted it I momentarily seen the boost go to 42 lbs.

    Sounds like something that happened to my truck last year. I have a 2006 mxs and had the same symptoms you are describing. Mine ended up being a bad plug connection on one of the IVA's. They get brittle over time and then short out or lose connection. I am thinking you have the same problem. Just pull the top of your valve covers off and take a look at them. I think it is 4 or 5 bolts to take off and not to hard to do. Cat sells newer updated plugs you can buy and replace them if it is the case.

    a friend just went through this on his a-cert. i ran the overhead and switched his accuators with my old ones that i took off my engine when it was converted. after doing one trip it threw a code 95. so he replaced the oil pressure sensor with a new one, nothing still had active code 95. replaced all wiring harnesses still active code. ended up puting a old sensor i had laying around and it cleared. there has been alot of bad new sensors from cat lately,this is a direct quote from the cat dealer we use.

    I removed one valve cover today and looked inside to see if I could visually see anything obvious but as far as I could tell everything looked OK. But what can you really tell by looks. I wonder if cat can diagnose it without just replacing a bunch of parts until they find the problem. Thanks for passing on your experience.

    You've got me stumped on what it could be joepeas. Maybe you go try another sensor on the one you just replaced and see if that works like superhauler said. I was trying to remember what code i had when mine went into a derated mode and low boost. I know it explaned in the o/m that is was low voltage to #1 or #2 iva's. I was thinking mine was a 95 but more I think about it might of been something else. Maybe code 92 is what i had. I wish you luck in finding the problem.

    a 95 code is low or high voltage for the accuators. the sensor on the outside rail is the one that kicks the 95 code.

    I talked to mech. today and he said it could be a wire problem. I have booked an appointment but shop is so busy not until 29, Nov. Is there somewhere I could get a wiring diagram so I could test the wires for continuety. I do not understand the whole principal of the sensor and what it does. Always run cummin so not familiar with cats. And they are all more and more complecated.
