Freightshakers weren't designed to be bounced around off road...they are light weight trucks designed to haul freight down the interstate. They are cheaply built so that they can be cheaply bought...but cheap doesn't bode well for longevity.
To illustrate this, a search for trucks at least 30 years old on truckpaper turns up the following results:
10 Freightliners
58 Peterbilts
102 Kenworths
145 Internationals
236 Macks
I wouldn't spend TOO much money trying to keep it together, because it'll just come apart again...just patch it together as best you can until you can afford to upgrade to a more durable truck.Semi Crazy and Big Duker Thank this. -
If the dash is falling apart then there's a good chance something else is also falling apart.

If you can't afford a Peterbilt just get what you can.

Peterbilts are not just a name , their cabs and frames are one of the best if not the beat in the industry! These trucks can go 3million miles then be rebuilt and go some more. Do they break ? Sure they do , but they will outlast anything on the road besides its twin brother the KW.

I have a friend that has 6 million miles on a '95 Pete 379. Good luck finding a Volvo or Freightliner that lived that long

There is quality in that Peterbilt name but to appreciate it you must first know what it is.
