Does anybody have an opinion on the quality of IPD Cat parts compared to OE Cat parts. And what about the price difference between the two?

I did a head gasket on a B model that had IPD liners and pistons in it. Engine had four years on it since being inframed. Truck run about 500 miles a day daily. Cyclinder and lines looked beautful. I dont like there head gaskets. Put a OEM cat head gasket and steel spacer plate back on it. I know of another C model that has IPD kit in it that seems to be a pretty good reliable engine as well. Be aware on there engine kits you reuse your rods and have to assemble everything unlike a cat cylinder pack where its all assembled. If your going to be turning it up id go with OEM for piece of mind

All I have heard is very good reports about IPD products. Some of the reports are from high HP heavy haulers out of WI and the parts have survived their beatings. Also some CAT shops I buy parts from are stocking a little less these days and the reman parts are getting a horrible reputation. These factors have lead me into purchasing IPD stuff for my next rebuild. Just take a look into IPD's "crevice seal" liner and you can see the aftermarket advantage.

I've used them several times and I love them. I've got my engine set pretty hot and no complaints, I've got a head gasket that blew out the back of #6 but can't say it wouldn't have done the same with a Cat gasket. The oil pan gaskets are one piece instead of the puzzle type of Cat, and they also use Cat part numbers which is handy, and they're considerably cheaper and new, not refurbished OEM.

I ordered 6 IPD injectors for my C-15. Two of them came boxed with the wrong injector (right number on box, wrong injector inside). I went ahead and installed the 4, and this engine has never ran better. After 3 sets of Cat remans, I'm feeling better. The other 2 will be here in a day or so, I'm hoping it will completely solve my problem.

That experience with ipd could be a one off combination of alot of contributing factors
but the old saying goes if genuine is available (USE IT) -
My.02....the Ipd liners are better than Cat....I too use a Cat headgasket# 359-0908....The rest of the parts seem excellent to me....and I have used them in High Hp applications without failure....how many High performance SBC, BBC, sbf use stock pistons...very few....I have used their injectors as well and I am very pleased.... while they are not a set of Farcall's ....they are better than what I have tried to date from various vendors and rebuild shops stateside.....Yes I am an IPD dealer ....but I became one after seeing their Cat Parts hold up very well in the 1000 to 1200 rwhp range. I've sold lots of IPD in-frame kits both overseas & domestice...never had a problem...as long as a competent wrench installs same.
