Make sure the lower peanut cover bolts are not too long...they will hit the gear and make noise. The ones closest to the clutch fan.

Also make sure you have correct lash in idler gear

Has oil pressure dropped? Watch the balancer on the front when idling. Is it wobbling? Does it change if you hold the clutch in? Most cranks will break at #1 or #6....although a 2WS is not known to break a crank.

ding! ding! ding! we have a winner, replacing that bushing probably changed the back lash if its to tight it will wear it out and a few other things! if to loose it will clater some. it should throw a code if it's to far out. it's a pain to set if you dont have the cat tool that goes over the ends of the idler stub shaft and cam. you almost have to loosen up the rocker shaft bolts to be able to do it right so you can check the gear lash. if its throwing a code it will fall back to default timing and it may make it run rough.

it was idling rough before i changed the bearing...the oil pressure is good and hasent changed i replaced the balancer just to be sure ..webt to the the new style...its not the cover bolts cause i ran it for just a sec without the cover on to check for oiling on the the cam gear...i guess i didnt know about the lash on the idler gear is this something i can set???

yes if you have a dial indicator, try to get it close to .004 as you can it will take some time you will have to loosen the bolts and tighten them a few times and move the stub shaft a few times to get it. it gets fustrating. i ended up setting mine at .005 that was as close as i could get it before i gave up. make sure you take all of the back lash out of the gear train when you do it. there is a procedure to it if you have a cat book.

I work for a company that has 50 mxs and bxs engines. Most of them make a ping ping ping noise when running I talked to cat they say its normal. Its from the injectors putting torsional load on the cam. I chased this noise down for months I just came to the conclusion there right. Im not sayin this is your problem just food for thought. Does it get louder when compressor is loaded?
