If it is dripping oil from blowby then you have rig problems, if it is dripping coolant from blowby hose then you have coolant in oil. Stick your finger in blowby hose and see if you have discolored gelly like substance in hose, if you have jelley stuff you have coolant in oil and the smoke you see is coolant boiling out of the oil. Alittle bit of oil is no cause for alarm if it drips once a min. or so then you have a problem and the smoke you see is excessive blowby of the pistons.

Could just be condensation. How much are we talking here?

out of the dipstick, its hard to tell cause its almost clear air that is coming out. But that slightly smoky air is blowing out of the dipstick day and night, rain or dry, so always, i think. maybe like half to a quarter of what is comining out of blowby hose is coming out of the dip stick. I know the truck has major blow-by cause it has lots of miles on it. I also lose about a gallon of oil a week. The good thing is that mpg of the truck is really good

It is probably blowby with some condensation. There is always some moisture in the air that will turn into some steam and get into the crankcase due to blowby. If the smoke quickly dissipates and totally disappears a few inches away then I would say it is just moisture with some blowby gases. This is normal with an older engine that has a lot of miles on it. To be expected.

omg, i replaced my oil filler cap that had no sealing capacity (broken nut). Its been a week with the new oil filler cap that actually seals in the filler tube. I thought it would make no difference, but i lost like no oil over the last week of driving (like 3000+mi of driving). I've read online that bad oil cap can leak oil, maybe i was losing that gallon of oil through the BS oil cap and not blow by!!

When you have a lot of blowby it builds pressure in the crankcase. Pressure has to go somewhere and out the dipstick is path of least resistance
