Anyone have any experience with the nexig USB adapter?I currently work for a cummins dealer and am setting up my personal laptop for work as well as my side work and want to know if it works as they say with insite and cat et and such?also anyone know where to get the programs like cat et and Detroit diagnostic programs for a decent price?I'm assuming I can find someone with the programs and have then burn a copy on a disc right I've never tried it.any thoughts or experiences are much appreciated guys.

They work just fine. I have used XscapeEZ (now OTC), Noregon and most recently got a Nexiq. All work great. The XscapeEz is what I have for my personal laptop and the cheapest, but will not do dual CAN. The Noregon is what we have at work and works for everything except Paccar ESA. Paccar ESA only support the Nexiq USB Link.
The XscapeEz is great beacuse it is very small, if you don't need dual CAN, it's the best for the price. I paid $450 about 3 years ago. The Noregon and Nexiq are about the same as far as size and performance. We were quite happy with it, but Paccar has a deal with Nexiq and there ESA program only works with Nexiq, so we had to get one for the multi-plexed systems on our Petes.
If you choose the Nexiq, be very careful about cheap copies. Make sure you get a genuine Nexiq. A chinese knock off will work until you update the firmware, then it will be rendered useless and you will get no support.
I have used the Nexiq with Insite, DDEC, DDDL, Cat ET, Wabco, Bendix Acom, Alison DOC, and VCADS. All work fine.truckmechanic Thanks this. -
Yep, we have a couple of them. Work on anything. Our latest one has the usb cable permanently fixed to the bottom of the unit. Our other ones the usb cable could unplug there. That usb socket would flex internally and break off the pc board inside.

That is handy! We should have gotten those before the sockets broke out. The ones we have now are the permanent cable type.

Nexiq is the way to go. The proprietary DLAs really hold an advantage with their corresponding software in areas where we're talking about dealership/engineer level ####. I've used NexIQ adapters with Insite, ESA, Davie and Davie 4, Bedix ACOM, and the Wabco program whose name I can't remember offhand, all without issue. No experience with DDEC or the programs for Volvo/Mack or Navistar.
