I have no idea what they mean by a 24 hour job .. Sounds fishy to me.

Ill bet, more than likely they meant the crankshaft seal.I drove a 2001 freightshaker and it would drop oil everywhere I went.We fixed it, but within a year it started all over again.

if its a rear main or crankshaft seal, it is labor intensive near the rear enginge cross member frame rails or they may have had to chase a part. Ask to speak to the shop foreman to pin down parts and labor.

Yea I have a leak on the back of my detroit also. Had the clutch changed out and while they had the transmission out I told them to replace the rear main seal, well I dont think it was that becasue the truck still leaks, unless they didnt change it, which my paperwork says they did but who knows. Had the pan gasket changed out, wasnt that either. I know some of it is coming from the blow by tube, and I suspect that the seals in my oil cooler are going back becasue I seen oil behind that the other day and it appears it is blowing back on to the bell housing. The only was I seen that was by looking at my coolant filter which was covered in oil. This might be where your issue lies also. Best piece of advice ever dont listen to a thing your dealer says, they will sell you whatever BS they can. Get under there clean the area (brake cleaner works great) up yourself and watch it to determine where the oil is coming from.

Also did you ask them for details on this "so called rear structure" leak? I would be asking where it is leaking and what needs to be done to fix the leak. Ask questions and then report back with what they say, it may be true and it may not. Like I said those the biggest thing you can do is get a few cans of brake cleaner and cleaner all the grime and oil off of the engine and bell housing and watch it over the next week or so to see if you can determine where is might be coming from. And it might save you 24 hours of BS labor, the biggest thing I find with truck shops is they give you a solution to your problem but it might NOT CURE your problem. They just suggest something for you to replace and it may or may not fix it, now you just wasted lots of money.

Guys, this same problem whooped the mechanics arse at the job......... on the same truck series / specs. We bought about 10 retired JB condos, Detroit and 10. All '06 . I'm not a mechanic so you have to work with me on the terminology.

Couple of these had oil leaks, mech thought rear main / pan gasket and lets do clutch anyway so here they go, down for like 3 days... When they cranked them up they still leaked oil ...WTF!!!

Come to find out there is a cam cover ? Seal ? on the back of the motor that is under the transmission bell housing.....and it commonly leaks. And you have to pull tranny to get it.....

    ??
