    I have a new trailer....yea so happy...NOT.

This dang thing is setup with a factory dump vavle. The problems are

1 You cant dump when empty. I have to make a hard hard turn to get out of my garage to go to work. this turn for years has been an issue but as long as we had dump vavles we where fine.

2 You cant dump over 5 Mph. I just have my reasons there...lol

Can anyone help me bypass this setup. Please and thanks

Call Reitnouer an discuss with them at 610-929-4856. I am on my 2nd Big Bubba with something of a similar set-up, but not that limited. R has always been very good to me in my past dealings!

I think why they would restrict dumping when empty is the risk of pulling the shocks apart when you hit the switch; my trailer has what they refer to as a shuttle valve that supposedly sends full line pressure (?) to the front bags which will always be somewhat tough on the bags but I would guess will give you more stability when turning. But when empty I will lift the rear axle off the ground when dumped; so, if there are no shock straps installed the only thing to contain the highly-pressurized bags are the shocks, and they probably aren't meant to function under that strain. Haven't pulled the shocks apart yet, partly because I only do this when I have to make a really tight turn and then only leave in the dumped position for several seconds. My trailer also has a fwd axle that lifts, so I deadhead on the rear only.

The 5mph thing I'm not sure about. I'm sure there have been idiots who have done stupid things and caused damage and/or lawsuits, so something related to moronic behavior may have caused this.

    Good luck!

what ABS control unit of what maker is fitted under trailer.

Newer ABS and TEBS units got programmable load and speed outputs, that may be used for any reason

For example shmitz trailers with EBS switch manual level valve in auto position at 5-10 MPH) with dump trucks these outputs actuate inhibitor solenoid valve

Didn't think about it on my earlier post, but sure there have been many forgetful drivers hit the switch for to dump the axle and left it in that position; so, I suppose it would be a back-up feature to have a speed sensor tell the valve to re-inflate. Noticed in my driving today, though, just how slow of a turn that 5mph is! 10mph not be fast enough for me either, so maybe 15.

Maybe a timer instead of a speed sensor, so that when 10 seconds or so have passed that the valve returns to normal operation?

There is small solenoid. Hits valve in auto position

Pablo - what does that valve do? Interesting to hear about what goes on/equipment differences across the pond - thanks!

it has the bedix abs sytem under it. it has 2 air line systems on the bags. from back to start it goes rear bags to dump vavle, than one line goes to the leveling vavle, than one line goes to the lower side ove the leveling vavle. that line supplies about 10 psi once the bags reach -1psi this is one thing giving me trouble. what happens is the bags dump good and fast. you will be in the hard turn when the bags inflate to 10 psi. once that happens she bounces so hard it feels like the trailer is coming off or like you just blew all the tractor bags....as for the speed issue. my lowest gear at idle puts me a 6mph so i let the clutch out and start to move and the abs system kicks the bags back on......i have to slip the hell out of my clutch to keep the dump working. but than that 10 psi hits and really shakes you up side down

Alaga the valve Pablo shows is very common here but it is not the newest technology.
Latest is EBS with ECAS.(we are talking trailers here, that technology is allready the norm on trucks for years)
With that system the choices are numerous.
For instance, you can program it so that when you take a turn below 20MPH,the rear axle on the trailer will dump till the front axle hits the maximum allowed payload.
    Thus saving the tyres.
    This is without driverinput.
You can program a second way, this one is driveractivated, but only for "offroad" use.

Another feature is seeing your axleweights

As I can see from the last post his trailer got no EBS with ECAS., just simple leveling valve and manual inflate/dump valve. Really Trailer maker use programmable outputs of unit (Bendix is trademark of KnorrBremse unit in USA).

To reprogram speed output is easy if you have Knorr/Bendix ECU Talk software with full access.
