Good afternoon all. I have a freight liner with a detroit d60 motor. I am puffing large clouds of black smoke (nothing wrong with it if the truck is running great lol) when i am under acel in any gear. What happens is, i get in the throttle and the truck feels like it is sneezing or has bad hiccups, at that time it is puffing a quick cloud of smoke (black). When the turbo initially spools it sounds really good and then it turns into a lil ole jetsons cartoon car sound. Its been to the freight shaker shop 5 times now, gets put on the computer and nothing is wrong. They will not drive the truck or ride with me for the symptoms to occur.
Probs with d60

What year and model is the engine?

Im almost sure its an 04-05. I haul oil in west texas and the truck is not mine per se. I am just receiving the truck and its screwed from the start.

I'll take 2003-2007 EGR motor for $1.00

That is all that i have been seeing when i do the searches. But at the shop they are giving me a big fat no because the computer isnt saying so. Im about to head back there now.

Weak v-pod or bad egr valve most of the time.

Ok so the shop just called me. So far they have found water in the computer. They are putting dielectric grease to try and see if that works. The computer didnt pick up any codes. If this works that means the freight shaker sales/shop in odessa texas have their heads up their ###es and arent worth donkey balls.

Water in the ecm is never a good thing other than dielectric grease i would check or reseal the back cover.
