I have a 13 speed is grinding from 4th to 5th on the way up.is this an easy or is this something that I will need to have someone look at. I'm hoping for an easy fix and hope it doesnt require a rebuilt transmission. any help is appreciated.

My Volvo did that for 7 years. I've heard it costs around $1500 to fix.

I guess if it doesn't get worse I won't bother fixing it for now

It's the sychronizer for the range shift is likely going bad. It could possibly be an issue with the actuator and/or it's air system, too. Roadranger has the manuals online if you want to diagnose the problem further. Oh, and not to be a bearer of bad news, but it also possibly a bad bearing(s) in the aux section. But unless it's an air system issue, the tranny has to come out regardless.

The back box can be dropped without pulling the whole Trans.

The leather is worn off the hi Lo synchronizer sliding clutch. The back box can be pulled without pulling Trans and repaired. But also like stated, check air pressures too.

Get it looked at soon, you may go a long time like that at best, at worst you may chew up something in the back half and it may mingle with all the gears in the tranny, and bearings and such.. Goes from being under 2k to around 4k to fix... At least I have a rebuilt tranny now...
