Been awhile since I had an n14 apart.pulley is timed a,b,c,for valve and inj setting.it is pressed on so will need a cummins tool.need to remove fuel pump and air compressor.you will need a s shaped micro turn 5/8 wrench for the compressor bolts.look at fuel pump drive spider when apart(I always replace when apart).look at accessory drive bushing in frt cover.you have to drain antifreeze b4 removing compressor.

About six hours and make sure you time the compressor when you reassemble saves a compressor rattle later on

If i remember correctly the compressor is not timed on the n14 only the acc drive the older small cam motors were timed, are you talking the front seal at the pulley or the acc drive to gear housing seal?make sure to pull the acc drove pulley pin out before pulling the acc drive out its not a press fit and is no bueno when it falls in the front gear train

I might suggest you read your cummins manual again - yes you can just fit the auxillary drive and compressor anywhere you like but your set marks don,t line up for the next unsuspecting mechanic and the compressor will rattle - and that,s funny isx and signature compressors have to be timed , maybe the engineers at cummins did,nt waste their time and put these notations in their manuals

Number one if you read my post i said the acc drive needs to be timed and the compressor dose not have to be timed an n14 or an isx as a matter of fact i work for cummins and also certified by cummins in n14,ism and all the x's plus the old ntc motors

I did read your post and noted that you said acc drive has to be timed but I disagreed with your statement about compressor timing -nt was the only engine cummins stated that did,nt require to be timed but as for the 855 ,n14 ( 12 o,clock ) and isx/sig ( crank pinned and compressor set at 3 0,clock

I have a NTCE335 Small Cam, I replaced the acc drive recently. I timed the acc drive for the sake of the pulley marks, but not the compressor. My father and I had an argument about the timing on compressor. The old guys told me to always time the compressor, to elliminate compressor knock. Is that true for the NTCE.

Are you replacing the seal or both the seal and drive? The seal takes about 1.5 hours while the accy. Drive takes about 6 hrs. You will need a puller and installer for the pulley, the installer can be made using the old nut a bolt and a couple of washers. If you are replacing the drive, rotate the engine until the dowel pin is at the 12 o clock position, install the new drive in this same position. There is no timing for the air comp. and the drive can be replaced using just regular hand tools. Be sure to check the bushing before installing the new accy. drive.
