I have a 2007 Intl 9400i and am experiencing a bad front end shake and wobble between 45 - 65 mph. I had a three axle alignment done, and had new Kelly KDA tires put on the steer and front drive axles hoping that would solve the problem No such luck. What else could be causing the shake and wobble?

alignments only cause it to pull
shaking is always something out of balance
    worn steer parts etc
you need a new mechanic if they dont look for something else

They put a liquid balance in all of the tires, supposed to work....don't know yet. These are brand new tires, so I hope it is not out of round. Will also check the brake drums.

have you checked the ride height on the air bags.

A quick "field check" is that the top of your frame rails should be even with the top of your drive tires as a general rule. Pretty much you can lay a board across from one set of drives to the other side and the frame should be right there with the board.

I hear ya loud and clear on the new mechanic. I will have them check out the steering parts as well.

I haven't personally done the board test, I just had the dealer check the frame and all is good they tell me.

Board test? That might be the dumbest post ever. How do you account for different tire sizes? Peterbilt has 5 different rear suspensions, all with a different ride height... factor in 4 different tire sizes, and you have 20 different relationships between the tires and the frame!

Is it a side-to-side shake, or an up-and-down bounce? Do you feel in in your feet or the steering wheel?

It is a side to side shake and I feel it in the steering wheel.

It's a field check. And until you actual go out and SEE what I am talking about it, try being open minded. It gives you a place to start. I didn't say it was to replace the actual check for the suspension. Discounting without checking it out further is just as silly if not more.

If it's side to side, you are likely dealing with more issues than just an alignment. wheel bearings, Tire belts (but they are new you say) are normally a low speed shimmy. Typically under 30 mph.

Higher speed shimmy (over 45) are balance issues. Check your brake drums for counter weights too. Make sure you didn't throw one there.
