Oh and whoever said turn up the pump... You really need to learn what the hell you are talking about before you give advice. You don't turn up a cummins pump. Cummins and cat has two compleatly different systems. A cat is pressurized and metered by the pump. A cummins is only pressurized and it is metered off the cam. If you"turn up" a cummins pump you increase the presure needed to open the injector which results in a flat cam.

 

Yup Kurt's the man, he even hooked me up with a marine ecm. According to him it should spit out 900whp.... Just waiting on the turbo now.

 

How far can you turn these up and what's is the price I got an 89 Pete with a big Camm 400 with 4.33 ratios it pull those logs like they arn't even back there.

 

I had a big cam 400 in an 86 KW that had been turned up, 13 spd, 370 rear gear. I smoked more than a few 425 kitty kats.

 

the big cams can go over 1000hp. just depends what you want to spend on it.
I think pittsburg sells all the parts for a 800+ big cam for liek $13k and that's just parts. you need to have the block machined for LPF liners if you have an earlyer motor and it needs to be assembled if you don't know how. Call them though, they are the cummins people

 

I sure would like to look in to this if things get better in trucking i'm pretty sure I can have a nice log truck!!!

 

Someday I'd like to build a Show 'n Go 359 with a 12V92 Detroit. I've seen one on youtube that apparently was putting out more than 1200 horsies.

 

I'm definatley going to check that i recently came across a 86 freight shaker that was stolen and converted into a log truck it has a cat in it 425 I do believe I talked with the lady who owns it and she said just before someone stole it had a rebuilt engine....it has a 15 speed with 3.90 ratio.....can this motor be turned up?
