I drove one of Bruces Beasts. The reason WHY they do not WEAR out the Cam is Simple. Your not feeding them all the FUEL THEY CAN HANDLE ALL THE TIME. THEY ARE BUILT TO LIVE HOWEVER WHEN YOU WANT THE POWER YOU GOT IT. I HAD A 444 XT THAT WAS PUTTING OVER 720HP TO THE GROUND AND THIS WAS WITH A STOCK TRANS AND REAR END SET UP IN HER. WHY WAS I ABLE TO RUN IT THAT WAY I DID NOT RAM THE THROTTLE TO THE FLORR BOARD EVERY TIME I GOT IN THE POWER. I ONLY USED THE POWER IN THE MOUNTAINS AND THEN SHE WOULD OUT PULL ANY POS YELLOW STAINED CAT OUT THERE. Ever done 60 MPH UP Snowshoe in PA at 78K I have called I let her scream only when I needed to. Mounteagle was another place she loved to fly. She also did I-90 a few times and was great out there. Now your Race motors are a differant breed we are going for Economy and getting them to last. Heck I could get any motor to prodoce 3K HP however my warrenty will be 5 or 5, 5 feet or 5 seconds which comes first.

You can't talk about economy when timing is re tarded, or durability when EGTs are sky high due to re tarded timing. Our race engines last many seasons without opening, only turbos blow every now and then. So Bruces engines stay in one piece only if you don't use them?

Well the one that was built for my boss in 1997 IS STILL RUNNING TODAY. At last report from the farmer that owns it the truck has 2.1 MILLION ON IT had 1.1 Million on it at the OVERHAUL. All he has had to do in the 12 years since he BOUGHT IT is replace the Head Gaskets 1 time run the Overhead 4 times and change 3 injectors and 2 sets of interhead fuel lines. The TURBO and PUMP and PISTONS AND CAM are the ones BRUCE sold my boss 13 years ago and it has NEVER LET HIM DOWN. He also gets 7 MPG with it. Not bad for a Square nose International with a 260 WB geared to run WELL and I MEAN WELL OVER 100 MPH. When 13th was .5 to 1 and it was turning 3.55 rears with 24.5 Big rubber do the MATH.

So now you are using all the fuel pressure they give to you and still the cam is not wearing out?

A properly Heat Treated Camshaft Should OUTLAST The ENGINE. Ask a RR Mechanic on a GP-7 how well the 567 series are running with 6-7 Million MILES and 60% idle time on them.

I can also count on my 2 hands all the times I had that truck at FULL BOOST AND FULL FUEL.
