I got tired of fixing my rigmaster APU. I bolted a Yamaha 3300 gasoline generator behind my sleeper and bought a 8K btu room ac unit. I strapped the unit in the top bunk of the sleeper and vented it out the the small window at the top bunk. So far it works good although I think 10K btu would be better. I just make a tent with a blanket and funnel the air to the bottom bunk when it really hot. This saves a lot of idleing in the summer. I don't mind buying the gas to run it and CARB has no rules yet about a set up like this. I have heard that they may require APU s to meet Carb rules. Any one know about that?

Ok I will but it may be a few days since I am on the road and not sure I can do it with what I have on the truck.

I'd like to see where you discharge the moisture off the AC unit...

Rooftop AC is THE way to go.
I dragged my heels deciding last time I was home, and regret it.
Yeah, a 14" x 14" hole in the roof of a brand new Western Star is a tough call, but they flat out work THE best.
The portable one I have now works, but no where near as good or as convenient as the rooftop unit.
    Let the cutting begin......
I also run a gas genset, a Honda EU3000is. Worth its weight in gold. If the Yamaha is as quiet as the Honda, then the tossrods in Kalifornia wont even know its running, so screw 'em.

I am looking at one of the back wall or under bunk units.

rooftop wont work on a tall truck. I've seen guys cut a whole in the back of their sleeper and install a window unit.

I'm told that a roof air unit can be mounted vertically, through the back wall. I'd really have a hard time cutting a hole in the roof.
