Hi, woke up this morning and suddenly have an issue with my air. it keeps running til it builds all the way to 150(as higj as the gauge goes).
Then i heat the releasr valve cpme on and it dumps air til it gets all the way down to about 50 and then just repeats the provess over and over. doesnt leak while the air is building up, so i dont know whats going on. any helpful idead would be appreciatefd, tjanks

Not exactly sure what the issue is but it needs to be fixed. If its not cutting out at the proper psi it could blow a hole in the air compressor. I've seen it happen one time.

Exactly. Pretty easy fix, 2 bolts. Fairly cheap part. Whatever you do, don't keep running it like this until you fix it, or you will blow a hole in something!

    agreed on the Governor

seems like most the time too much preasure is the governor then not building pressure tends to be a stuck unloader.

replace governor...buy an extra one they are cheap {11-15 bucks} and will go out at the most inopportune times...and yes extreme high air pressure will blow something {lines/tanks/etc} apart

Not quite guys....yes his governor is bad ( tap on it driver...it might live a bit longer ) but what he's hearing is the tank safety's lifting. There is a pop off valve where ever air can be trapped and build like air tanks.

Everybody has them....glad his works...be a heck of a boom......

Driver ! Got an air drier? When was the last time you changed filter???? That is one cause of gov failure. ( dirty air )

not sure about tapping on it...might help...there is also an adjustment screw on the bottom under a plastic piece..you can back off the pressure with this, but would only do it to get somewhere you could get a replacement....there are safety valves on tanks, air dryer, etc...these do fail, get clogged, get hit with road debris and jam, etc...a driver a month or so ago found this out the hard way when one of his primary tanks exploded....yes it was a heck of a boom...made the news....a clogged air dryer filter will cause gov failure as the gov releases overpressure through the air dryer...if the filter is clogged the air has no where to go...

Maybe he was one of those guys whose air dryer popped off every 20 seconds and someone crept over in the night and undid his unloader line so they could get some sleep!
