So, I get my 09 Volvo to the main dealers in Saskatoon for a quick service, general checks etc, oil and fuel filters.
Doing my circle check this morning, I noticed the buzzer did not sound with the usual screech telling me I had low air, and the blinkers were not clicking,
I mentioned this to Volvo, they looked into it, and told me that though all the electrics were good, it was just the speaker that was blown, I nearly fell off my chair when they said the speaker module would cost $1,200, plus fitting, plus taxes.....surely I can buy a speaker from Radio shack, Walmart etc,or pull one out of an old radio, and solder in a new speaker? Can any one give me advice please? I have to try and repair this problem myself, I cannot justify this amount of cash for a speaker, ....does the dashboard have to come apart? I can hear it about my shin area, surely its reasonably accessible, help please.
Volvo 780 Audible warning speaker.......not working.

Its not a speaker. Its a part of instruments cluster, and they want to replace it. I've heard that there is a way to repair it, but dealer will only replace entire thing.
-
-
pull the cluster out and open up the back cover you should be able to remove the old speaker and soder a new one on it no problem.
@lastgoodusername, it's all electrical no air lines going into the cluster. -
-
Does anyone know where you can get a replacement speaker from
-
You can't just replace the speaker. And unless you have extensive experience with circuit board repair I would not suggest repairing it. Either replace the cluster or rig up a home made buzzer. In our shop we replace the cluster.

What happened to good ol relays and fuses and such. I would do like this.
-
remove instrumental cluster, off the back cover and U see speaker, the same like DAF/KW/Mack/Renault.... it is small 32 ohm speacker, chek it with DVOM for bad coil. if coil is ok and no soldering deffects - replace amplifier chip
dphillips Thanks this. -
I know this is an old thread but we had this same problem and it might help someone else having the same problem.
