215hp/520lb ft Cummins ISB in a FL70 Chassis. Fuller FS5406A Trans and a 19k single rear axle w/ 4.11. Im just thinking of getting this truck for around the farm and my own personal use. Just curious how it would be on fuel with this 6 cylinder diesel engine and gears.

We have had two. One with a 6 speed crash box. Rpm at 65 is 2300. Fuel mpg hwy was 7 tops. It is a bobtail tilt bed. Hauled very well. The other was a auto with a Allison(?) 5 speed. Mpg was 9-10. At 65 was turning 1800. It was a slug. It was also was a tilt bed. Was great for 8000lbs or less.

. We have concluded that slow turning, larger cubic inch, lower horse power is better than small high strung motors in the arena of mpg. Our 6x4 52k gvw bobtail with 300hp/800tq gets better mpg than our 32k gvw 4x2 bobtail with 260hp/620tq The little motor is just screaming along. Our next 52k gvw bobtail will be 12-13l with a 2.5 rear end and 300hp or less.

Hey thanks man, Was this loaded heavy or just empty? or did it matter? I would probably never go over 55 miles an hour because I would be hauling a camper on back and on vacations Im in no hury. It may do a little better running at 55.

The 6 speed was the same either way. The auto mixed it up a bit. Not much. They both would tow a camper well. More stable than any pickup truck. Most pickups would not do any better mpg wise pulling a camper. Heck, what some of these f350/450, GM's and dodges cost now a low mileage toy hauler would be the way to go.

Im hear you man, And this truck is very low miles. The man that bought it new had a huge compressor on it, so he just used it around town there in Cali right. Well the compressor was new but it had problems so while it was down the truck was down. And so this truck only has 48, 000 miles on it. I know they are tough enough for a caping truck lol, Hey thanks!

How can I enter a vin number and find out all about a truck? On a another forum I gave a guy a vin number for a truck and 10 minutes later he posts a reply that says/ 215hp/520lb ft Cummins ISB in a FL70 Chassis. Fuller FS5406A Trans and a 19k single rear axle w/ 4.11. gears in back. What I want to know is how in the world did he know that much from a Vin#? That's a lot of info. I want to learn how he did that. He gave me the motor/ tranny/ chasis/ and rear end, from a vin#? any help is appreciated. He was dead accurate too. I already new about all but the rear end.

You can call freightliner and they can give any info you want if you have the vin. Most of the time the parts department is most helpful.
