The 2003 model year trucks have both 6NZ and MBN bridge motors. The last 6NZ engines built and sold for use in the USA and Canada were built on September 31, 2002. The MBN engines for USA and Canadian use started on October 1, 2002 and are in half of the 2003 model year trucks.

To have had a recent overhaul by a Cat dealer then it has a LOW NOX File in it. Otherwise CAT wouldn't give the engine a warranty

Weren't there any 9NZ C15's used in the USA? Or were they for export markets only?

The USA emission regulations changed before CAT went to the 9NZ serial number prefix. So all 9NZ engines were strictly sold as export use only, so none were ever used in the USA. Most of them ended up in Australia or New Zealand

Why? They are basivly a 6NZ with a different Prefix, as they ran out of 6NZ serial numbers, they have the same block as the SDP so are perfect for mounting twins as they have the extra external stud holes ect .
