I have a 2003 9200 that has chipping paint. It's red/pink in color. It sees dirt and city work 90% of its life.

I just want to get the aluminum oxidation under control so I think a new paint job is needed.

it is already 4 shades of a red like color.

i run in dirt a lot so I was thinking of maybe a quick red rustoleum job or possibly a red bed liner?

    maybe change the color?

Im just seeing what others have done and what they've had work. I haven't seen much about this besides the blue cab over.

So the simpler the better, I'm kinda thinking of the red and bed liner, seems to be simpler so far.

I would go with a vinyl wrap . Just ask any sign shop what they would charge or if they know any one that does it .

all dents are easy to see under vininl film. So it would be good idea to remove old paint. I used Wurth gasket remover to remove old paint.

Plastidip. I'm seriously considering doing my shaker in a matte black. The nice things are: you can peel it off bit it stays on like paint and the only prep work is washing it thoroughly.

im good with that as long as its all the same color when I'm done. Been looking at the military green for color and paint my roof and hood black with detail paint.

I've thought of this also but it does seem like it comes off very easy on corners so I'm not too sure about this being very reliable over time as I clean my truck with a pressure washer.

Im also throwing out the idea of a rubberized bed liner. Just something simple that will last and not cost me more than $500

Paint won't stick to bare aluminum.
Once you've sprayed bed liner on it, you'll never get it off and I doubt very much you can get it or vinyl do for $500.
You're better off with a rattle can job if it's just a day cab or maybe an Earl Schrieb "splash and dash "

    It's a 9200i mid roof with a sleeper.

Yeh I'd sand it before painting, it's pretty flaky in several areas from oxidation. the areas that are bare aluminum will be sprayed with etching primer. After this is done then paint should stick.

    i can get a roll of vinyl 5ft x 80ft. For $320 if I went that route.

Or rustoleum roller job for probably $100

I've done 2 cars with rustoleum already so I might just go that route, its pretty easy to do.

I don't think that's required here, all they care about is the vin # i believe.
