I am planning to remove a leaf spring and add air bags to the front axle of my 2000 379. Trying to get everything figured out before I attempt it. Stupid question but how do you jack the truck up and put stands under frame seems way to high I always use the axle but of course I can't for this. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Well, the pros use air pnuematic jacks, but that's a pretty penny for poor me. So I went on Amazon and bought a 20 ton bottle jack for $39. I use it to grease the front end of my truck, including the kingpins, which means there can't be any weight on the wheel assembly or the grease won't go all the way through where the kingpin sits - only half of it gets greased. So I jack the front end up using the part of the frame attached to the bumper.

Hey, I know this is all pretty ghetto but it seems to work for me. Meaning, I haven't killed myself yet and haven't crushed anything on my body.

Anyhow, you are going to need alot more clearance than I do for simple grease jobs, and jacking the truck up with a bottle jack that's only going to give you what? 10"? every time you jack it? Then you have to raise the jack stand. Then go get some more high-stress compact cinder blocks or pavers or something and jack the truck up another 10", then raise the jack stands again, then go get some more pavers...

see what I mean by ghetto? Anyhow, you will get there in the end if that's how you really want to do it, and you don't make a mistake and accidently drop the truck off a stand and crush something..

Not sure if this kind of answer is what you were looking for though...if not, I apologize.

don't use cinder blocks they can/will shatter under the weight if you got to block it use 6x6 wooden blocks.
