I stopped at a shop in Houston to have the power in my T-600 with a Cummins turned up. He bumped it to 450 hp and 1650 pounds of torque. He said it was the maximum. Do I need to change the gear ratio to a lower or higher number?
How much torque can a 3.55 ring and pinion take?

Its probably the rating of the transmission that they are talking about. No dealer will turn it past that rating.
You have to go to the aftermarket to get it turned up past the trans rating. I would not let the driveline rating stop me from turning a truck up.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Never seen ring gear problem, trans yes.my mechanic built twin turbo e model. Put 1402 to roller before input shaft broke.

Thanks for the info. I guess my mechanic is a firm believer in corporate propaganda.

The input shift is usually the one to break.

I should have mentioned that I have a transmission rated at 2050 lbs. of torque. I've gone with the Bully Dog ecu to bump the power.
