Oh and the piston didn't hit the head, I'm exchanging the head out cause I had a crack in it for a year so might as well

Is getting a warrantee on the rebuild a factor for you ? I though they were " giving" a 3 year one with the platinum kit....?

No! I'm doing it myself, I got a PDI tune, turbo, manifold and 800hp cam. I don't want cat to ruin my set up, I got 750,000 outta this rebuild I did lastime with the cat platinum kit
Cat sdp Thanks this. -
Spinning the rod bearing was my fault, I got on her a little too hard at the truck pulls, but hey on the bright side I did WIN full pull in my class LOL

First of all as a truck mechanic I am not sure how your going to replace crank with engine inframe. I'm not saying its not possible but you will have the trans out the heads and front cover off to pull the rest of the engine is really not much more work. About the piston replacement I would highly advise new pistons with new liners not sure about cat but volvo cyl kits come with liner, piston, and rods all assembled.

Why wouldn't you? In that deep, seems kind of foolish to me to put used anything back in especially if you are planning on puling with it again. In my opinion 750,000 miles on a part time pulling truck is pretty good. I don't think I would tempt fate. I'm just sayin...
bigstank Thanks this.
