Looking to purchase a gallon of caterpillar yellow ( old or new doesn't matter). My paint guy has converted his business to selling house paint, no more automotive applications. I'm looking to order online, I see eastwood makes engine paint rated up to 600 degrees, has anyone purchased from them? Good or bad? I'm going to spray the motor for the most part, probably brush some of the trouble spots. Let me know how you reduced or ratio of activator used if possible. Thanks

I've painted a bunch of demo derby and figure 8 cars with Van Sickle's paint, I always ran a Cat Yellow and Black paint scheme and it was good paint, held up till race day anyways, and was very easy to shoot and turn out with good results. Local Ag stores around here carry it.

How it would hold up for an engine in the higher heat application I have no clue though.

Yeah I'm having a tough time finding engine paint. Eastwood is saying their paint is good for 600 degrees. Others I've found don't specify engine paint. I'm afraid to go through all prep work and then the paint peel ya know. Thanks for your help. If anyone has used eastwood products out there let me know.

I used cat spray cans for my mbn. CAT shop even painted thermostat and water pump when my mbn was in the shop.

I used the Eastwood (650 degree I think) stuff on a couple C15 head jobs. It holds up good, it will turn a little brownish right around the exhaust ports after a while, but other than that it's fine. Maybe 100,000 miles on the 1st one I did and it still looks good. I can't remember how I mixed it, but I did what the directions said. There was also a hardener/high gloss additive that I used with it, I forget the exact name. It was supposed to make the paint tougher.

Anyone know how many cans to paint a motor and is just spray paint fine? There is literally no paint left lol just a bottom layer of rust inhibitor.

Using engine enamel paint from a spray can will work fine.

You will probably need four or five cans depending on how much coverage you need.
