I hear a slight noise coming from trailer, look & where the slack adjuster is connected to a bracket that is welded to the axle, it broke off at the weld right on the axle. drove to shop & dropped it off. they said they could fix it, buy a bracket. is there a way to fix this? I thought I was going to need to start looking at buying another trailer.

Hitting recaps at road speed will break the welds,

I found one of mine bent. Then I remembered that beveled timber I lost a while back!

If it was rusted out and fell out, I would do the rest of them on that trailer. Sooner or later the others will fail.

now that it is brought to my attention. I have avoided most but not every bit of gater rubber on the road. but in my case I think it is just rusted out. the shop said something about the bearing when I dropped it off.

I was thinking, I doubt a weld would hold long. it is just too small of a contact area. I thought maybe a aftermarket bracket may be available, something that has U bolts like the 5" kind that go on the exhaust , but smaller. one that would fit snug around the axle & a new bracket to bolt on to it.
