you are OK,, 135amp is all you really need,,my 98 Pete came with a $700 165amp with I ordered it, iy lasted over 900,000 miles, the bearings were starting to growl,,replaced it with a $150 135amp worked fine,,your alt has a built in voltage regulator,,13 to 15 volts is OK..

lts should put out between 13.8 and 14.4. Yours isnt bad, but its a little low. Measure right of the alt with a colt meter. If it is indeed pumpin gout only 13.5, it may be defective....especialy if its new

Id bet you did this but check your belt and tensioner. Maybe put on a new belt it could be slipping.

New belt, i still believe it's about those 3 studs, the way i understand there is supposed to be wire going from one of the studs to battery, to control right voltage????

Those three studs are direct connections to the stator output, nothing to do with remote voltage sensing. There is no wire that needs to any of those studs and the battery, unless you want to see a good fire and possibly an explosion.

The two terminals with the wires on them are the negative and positive output of the alternator - this is where the regulator gets it voltage to regulate the alternator. So do you have both of them connected to the Ground and the Battery respectfully?

ALSO have you checked at the battery what the voltage is with a good accurate meter?

13.5v is fine. i would not even worry about it unless it drops lower than that when you have headlights blower fans ect running.

my alt runs at about 13.9 with everything off running the blower fan full blast with headlights on ect its about 13.5 i just had to replace my alt this week. and replaced the 100 amp unit with a 160 amp and both are exactly the same on voltage. well except for when the last one stopped charging and was showing 12.5v (why it was replaced)

One of the stud is a signal indicator to light up on dash when alternator fails, or isn't charging. By then it is too late.

many modern alternators got no remote sence wire, so they stabilize voltage on alternator terminals, not on batteries. 1 v is the normal voltage drop for 5' wire. Just measure alternator output with DVOM !
