Truck all in a sudden has loss of power. Turbo no longer makes bad ### turbo sound. It now sounds like a truck with the window open. It gets to 25 psi and then drops to 20, then back up to 23, then back to 20. This happens with foot floored on a hill. I cant get it to go above 25. norm it tops off at 35ish. Am i doing damage to the truck driving like this? Any idea what it is? Sound seemed to be coming from right of truck, but now seems more to the left. Im not sure im good at directional sound. I cant get it to do it while stopped because it only makes noise while turbo is boosting.
Maybe unrelated, I noticed a crack in the air filter housing. Will get it replaced soon. Also FAF filter is really oily. Will clean per FAF instructions tonight.
Thanks,
Cody
P.S. I got a load that delivers Friday at 5 and im 1100 miles away. Is it safe to haul this load?

My truck was doing the same thing. Needed turbo, egr, cracked intake and intercooler. $7500 later and runs like a champ.

Check all your CAC hoses, clamps and CAC itself. It sounds like you may have a big boost leak.
magoo68 Thanks this. -
Hopefully crack in air filter housing is minor if not stay away from dusty areas if possible as you may be feeding engine dirty air .. Like grape said test cac and intake for leaks

Is it smoking when you hit the throttle? Mine got to the point that it was rolling coal bobtail.

I've got almost same problems. Did you find out what is going.?

He probably doesn't want to tell us. It might cut into his $50 grand per truck per year he is making off someone else driving it!
Ruthless and leftlanetruckin Thank this. -
Love threads where they ask a question, then cant be bothered.......

was a loose hose from the charge air cooler to something on the left side of motor. Average mpg went up by .5 as soon as its fixed and the truck feels like new. cost 80 in labor and 10 for a new clamp
