Been really pretty trouble free engine for 300,000. Cat C15 heavily modified. Yesterday noticed volt meter not reading anything and assumed bad gauge. Got to first stop and thought maybe should pop the hood and look before shutting it off. No fan/alternator belt ! Called a local Napa and no way of looking it up. International dealers think they are bankers and don't work much at all on weekends (buy freightliner they are open 7/24). Found an International dealer online that was open and asked for belt number and was told they have belt but can't give number out. I said I'd sure appreciate it and said I wanted to walk to a Napa dealer and just needed the number. He obliged under his breath the number. Can't believe I was able to put it on but u tube sure was handy !!

Today popped the hood at first stop to check for heck of it and engine oil all over the oil pan. The oil is coming from around the seal/center/bearing/ of engine damper. Thought maybe that is why the belt came off yesterday as damper is getting loose but seems fine. Dry as a bone yesterday. You could park this truck on white carpet and never seen anything. Is this much of a job??

Also heading out this morning with first load and engine showed 80-90% load and only 12 boost on the level but seemed to be running fine so figured those gauges screwy. Got to first big hill which occasionally have to shift to 12th for and it fell on its face. Once over this hill and a few miles down the road truck was its old self again power wise and load and boost wise.

Also the temp runs about 155 -160 and to 170 on a big pull and fan rarely kicks in and only in summer. I was wondering if the engine temp was not warm enough and it would not open up but was told no such thing would happen.

Also as long as I'm blabbing how high a guy dare on boost on this single turbo? was told to keep under 37 but if left in cruise on a big hill it might climb to 37,38,39 for like 4 seconds and then drop back to 35 quick. When I drive I keep it much lower but wanted to know how safe it is setup for other drivers.
